Hopefully you’re coping in the snow and that 2010 has started well for you. In this first issue of the new decade we look at the good and bad news for Google’s first mobile phone, and see the latest collaboration between giants HP and Microsoft.

Facebook have joined forces with McAfee in the name of security and finally we head to China to see how political threats can affect the mighty Google.

Microsoft and HP show off 'slate' PC

Microsoft and HP have teamed up in a stealth like way to introduce a 'slate' computer just before Apple's rumoured device launch. The firm unveiled the Windows 7 powered touch screen 'slate' computer also known as a tablet, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The aim of the device is to bridge the gap between laptops and smartphones. They are going to launch the slate device in late January to go on sale in March according to the Wall Street Journal.

Facebook offers free McAfee security


Facebook offers free McAfee security

Facebook has partnered with McAfee to offer six months of free security to the site's 350 million users.

Once the six month trial period has expired, users will then be offered a discounted version of the security package, which could benefit McAfee's subscriptions department. However, Facebook claims that it will not benefit financially from the deal.

Google's threat to walk away from China has created a huge frenzy through the country's fast growing internet industry, with users, executives and analysts trying to gauge the potential fallout.

The search giant announced that it will stop censoring its Chinese search site and way withdraw from the country all together, caused massive concern and some anger among Chinese internet users.
