Editor's Letter
Welcome to the latest edition of 'On the Pulse' the
e-newsletter brought to you by Sixth Sense ESP. 'On the Pulse'
aims to provide you with genuinely useful information about online
security, promotion and the development of engaging websites with
professional advice from internationally respected sources.
How much reliance do you put on your online presence and what
would you do if your website stopped functioning? Surprisingly,
most website design companies don’t have systems in place to
reassure their customers of how website failures would be dealt
with. We are proud to announce that we have a full Disaster
Recovery Plan in place and our lead story describes how this could be of
benefit to you.
Website Accessibility and the Discrimination Act have been law
since October 2004 but up to 90% of websites still fall outside
of these regulations. Our report shows how far away some companies
are from meeting the standard and how we could help you become
compliant. Finally you can read about how we have recently
unveiled our new website for 2006 and how you can quickly move
your website to the top ranking on Search Engines by using 'Google Adwords'.
We’ll keep doing our best to make sure we send you genuinely
useful snippets and if you have any comments or suggestions for a
future article, please drop us a line. And don't forget to tell
your friends!

Is your website in safe
hands? |
| |
Surprisingly, most website design companies
don't have a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) in place, resulting in
debilitating down time for their customers with websites and e-mail accounts
inoperable when the
unthinkable happens.
We are pleased to announce that we have a
fully tested DRP in place and that means that the websites and e-mail accounts we host would
be up and running within 4 hours of any emergency. Could your
current supplier reassure you of the same?

Accessibility Laws Being
Ignored |
| |
Despite the Department of Work and Pensions
expensive promotional campaign aimed at informing businesses that
the UK
Discrimination Act is now law, the vast majority of websites are
still in breach of this new law.
We found that nearly 90% of all of the websites
we tested using our innovative Website Reporting
Tool did not have valid HTML or CSS code. This can lead to
inconsistencies in web browsers and prevent blind users from
reading their website at all.

Google Adwords Explained |
| |
Google has become one of the most profitable
companies in the world thanks to their paid advertising service
called Adwords.
Adwords allows you to 'jump the queue' by
being on the front page of search results. However, you can only
be above other advertisers by out bidding them for your chosen
keywords.
It may seem expensive but Adwords has proven to
be very cost effective for many of our customers...
